Sentences

A sentence is a group of words giving a complete thought. A sentence must contain a subject and a verb, either actual or implied.

A written sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop, a question mark or an exclamation mark.

  • The cat ate the mouse.
    (subject/cat – verb/ate)

This is the shortest sentence in English:

  • Go!
    (implied subject/you – verb/go)
