Exclamation Marks

09/06/20241 min read Gary

Exclamation marks (!) show strong emphasis or strong emotion. They are rarely used in formal writing.

They are used at the end of exclamations:

  • Stop!
  • I’ve finally finished!

They are often used with interjections:

  • Hi! What’s new?
  • Ouch! That hurt.
