When the main clause is in the future tense

When the main clause verb is in the future tense, the dependent clause verb should be in the present tense.

  • I will tell you when dinner will be ready.
    (main clause verb/will tell/future tense – dependent clause verb/will be/future tense)
    I will tell you when dinner is ready.
    (main clause verb/will tell/future tense – dependent clause verb/is/present tense)
  • When I will go to Liverpool I will watch a game.
    (dependent clause verb/will go/future tense – main clause verb/will watch/future tense)
    When I go to Liverpool, I will watch a game.
    (dependent clause verb/go/present tense – main clause verb/will watch/future tense)
