Homonyms are words with the same pronunciation or the same spelling but with a different meaning.

Same pronunciation:

  • maid (female servant) – made (past of make)
  • site (a location) – sight (vision) – cite (to quote)
  • pear (fruit) – pair (a couple)

Same spelling:

  • lead (the metal) – lead (to lead a team)
  • bear (the animal) – bare (no clothes)
  • rose (the flower) – rose (past of rise)
