Keep the verb and direct object together

When a verb has a direct object, put the direct object after the verb. Don’t put any words between them.

  • I bought yesterday a new t-shirt.
    (verb/bought – direct object/a new t-shirt)
    I bought a new t-shirt yesterday.
  • I like very much reading.
    (verb/like – object/reading)
    I like reading very much.
  • I’ll put on the table the food.
I’ll put the food on the table.

But it is possible to put an indirect object between them.

  • I’ll lend you my pen.
    (verb/lend – indirect object/you – direct object/my pen)
