Third Person

The third person is neither the speaker nor the listener. The third person is used for someone else. The third-person pronouns are:

  • he
  • she
  • it
  • they

As in these examples:

  • I am speaking to you about her.
    (first person/I – second person/you – third person/her)
  • The doctor is speaking to the nurse about the patient.
    (first person/doctor – second person/nurse – third person/patient)

First person uses I or we.
Second person uses you.
