A double negative is when two negative terms are used in the same sentence.
- I don’t have no money.
(first negative/don’t have – second negative/no money) - She’s not going nowhere.
(not going – nowhere)
Double negatives are used in some regional accents and can also be used creatively. But for students of English they are best avoided.
