Skype Lessons

I will ask you one question, and if the answer is no then you don’t need to read the rest of this page.

Do you have a problem speaking English?

You are still reading so the answer must have been yes. In that case I will ask you another question. Are your present English lessons interesting, and do you speak a lot during them?

Ok, it was two questions, but I teach English not maths. If the answer was no to both questions then please, please contact me. I promise that I can help you.

Of course you want to know more about my Skype lessons

Obviously they are fantastic. But in what way are they fantastic? Most importantly there is lots and lots of speaking by you. In the classes you have now how much time do you actually spend  speaking: 5 minutes? 10 minutes? Our lessons will be 60-minute conversions. Now, I want you to think back to your first English lesson and try to remember the things that you talked about: name, job, best friend at school, favourite colour, where you come from? Then you started a new coursebook or started with a new teacher, and what did you talk about during that first lesson: name, job, best friend at school, favourite colour, where you come from? Boring certainly. Also, a little embarrassing if you have no friends and you come from Krungthepmahanakonbowornratanakosinmahintarayudyayamahadiloponoparatan arajthaniburiromudomrajniwesmahasatarnamornpimarnavatarsatitsakattiyavisanukamphrasit (Bangkok to you and me) Thankfully, I have never had the experience of hearing a student snoring in my class. My lessons keep you awake, motivated, and give you something to think about.

During our lessons we will use real-life English

No coursebooks or false texts with little numbers down the side. We will use different websites written in different styles, audio files, photography, and lots and lots of video. Using these different styles and formats will make life more interesting and make you a better speaker. Now, please add your name and e-mail address to this contact form and then click send.

Frequently asked questions for Skype lessons

For me it was an easy decision to start teaching via Skype.  But, I can understand that for some people the decision to learn online could be difficult. So, here I have tried to imagine some of the questions that you might still have.

Why is the internet better than face-to-face?

30 is the key number here – 30% faster learning, 30% cheaper to buy.

How much does it cost?

18 EUROS for 60 minutes. No discounts, no negotiating. I’m good.

How can I pay you?

Two ways: PayPal or a bank-to bank transfer.

But I am not technical. Is it easy to use?

I am not technical and it is easy to use. You would not believe how easy it is. It is more difficult not to do it than it is to do it.

How many lessons will I need?

Impossible to say. But I recommend two lessons per week for intermediate students and a minimum one lesson a week for advanced students.

When can I have lessons?

I work Monday – Friday. We can start anytime after 4am and finish no later than 7pm London time. This world clock will help you.

What will we do in the lessons?

In our lessons there will be lots and lots of speaking by you. We will use real-life videos, photos, texts and audio files. We will study general English. And no coursebooks because they are boring. Here you can read a detailed description of the lessons.

What is my level of English?

We will find that out during the free test lesson. I teach from pre-intermediate to advanced level.

What equipment do I need?

A computer obviously. A good internet connection; 2mb is usually enough. You can check your speed using this tool. A microphone headset and a webcam. Nothing else.

How long is the course?

If you see an advert saying that you can learn English in four weeks or such other rubbish then immediately click away. No one can make such a claim. It depends how good you are, and how fast you learn.

Aaah! I am scared of speaking.

If you weren’t scared you wouldn’t be reading this page. If you make a mistake I promise I won’t laugh (much).

Will I get homework?

Yes. You do all the boring stuff: grammar, reading, vocabulary, before the lesson so we can use our time together for speaking.

Group or one-to-one?

Only one-to-one.

I may not like it. Can I have a lesson before I buy?

Yes you can. Its free and takes about 20 minutes. Click here to ask for one.

What if I don’t like the lessons after I have bought them?

Don’t worry, you’ll like them. Should the unimaginable happen and you don’t like them then I will give you your money back for the unused lessons.

I have tried to imagine every possible question, but if your imagination is bigger than mine and you still have a question then use this contact form to ask me…
