Use of would in the second conditional

In the second conditional we use the past simple in the if-clause and would in the main clause.

Don’t use would in the if-clause.

  • If I would have more time, I would play chess.
    If I had more time, I would play chess.
  • She would travel the world if she would have a passport.
    She would travel the world if she had a passport.
