Two events or people should be talked about if you want to use between.

  • England grew rich between the industrial revolution.
    (only one event talked about)
    England grew rich during the industrial revolution.
    England grew rich between the 18th and 20th centuries.
    (two events/dates talked about)

Between is followed by and.

  • The First World War was fought between 1914–18.
    The First World War was fought between 1914 and 1918.
  • The meeting will be held between 4pm to 6pm.
    The meeting will be held between 4pm and 6pm.
