  • He hasn’t got no friends.
    (double negative/hasn’t and no)
    He hasn’t got any friends.
    (single negative/hasn’t)
    He has got no friends.
    (single negative/no)
  • I couldn’t find nothing impressive about that painting.
    (double negative/couldn’t and nothing)
    I couldn’t find anything impressive about that painting.
    (single negative/couldn’t)
    I could find nothing impressive about that painting.
    (single negative/nothing)
